The Bible is the holy book of Christians and Jews. It is a collection of fundamental texts written between the 8th century BC and the 2nd century AD.
Throughout the history of Christianity, there have been accounts of visions and Marian apparitions. These stories of Christians who have seen Our Lady have been treated in different ways.
The Grotto of Lourdes, site of the eighteen apparitions of the Virgin Mary to Bernadette Soubirous between 11th February and 16th July 1858, very quickly became a place of pilgrimage.
What surprises the pilgrim on arrival in Lourdes is the large number of stretchers, wheelchairs and carers seen in the crowd.
The apparitions of Our Lady Mary in the grotto of Lourdes, where Mary appeared to Bernadette Soubirous, are the source of much of the fervour of Christians who go to the sanctuary of the grotto .
