Miraculous Medal
The Palais du Rosaire, a Lourdes family business founded in 1914, offers its selection of Miraculous Medals of the Virgin Mary, in gold, gold-plated, silver, metal and mother-of-pearl. Born from the 1830 apparitions to Saint Catherine Labouré, the Miraculous Medal is one of the most widely worn objects of Marian devotion in the world. It is worn as a sign of faith and trust in the intercession of the Virgin.
The apparitions behind the Miraculous Medal
The Miraculous Medal was born from the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to Saint Catherine Labouré, in 1830, in the chapel of the rue du Bac in Paris. Mary asked her to have a medal struck bearing the invocation "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee". The first medals were made in 1832 and spread rapidly across the world. To learn more, discover the meaning of the Miraculous Medal.
The Miraculous Medal in gold, silver and gold-plated
We offer the Miraculous Medal in several materials, depending on whether you wear it daily or give it for a special occasion. Gold and gold-plated suit meaningful gifts, such as a baptism or a communion, while silver, metal and mother-of-pearl make plainer medals to wear every day. It is readily worn as a necklace, on its own or with a matching chain.
The medal, rosary and statue of Our Lady of Grace
Devotion to Our Lady of Grace is not limited to the medal. Many of the faithful pair theirs with the Our Lady of Grace rosary for daily prayer, or place an Our Lady of Grace statue in their home. These objects carry on the same Marian devotion, born from the apparitions of the rue du Bac.
