Gold rosaries
A gold Rosary combines the traditional structure of the Rosary with a precious metal intended for lasting use. This collection includes 9ct and 18ct gold designs with different beads, crucifixes and centre medals for Catholic prayer. For another precious-metal option, our silver Rosaries provide a different finish for regular prayer or an important occasion.
9ct or 18ct gold Rosary: what is the difference?
A gold Rosary may be made from different gold finenesses. 9ct gold contains a lower proportion of pure gold than 18ct gold, affecting its composition, appearance and price. 18ct gold has a higher gold content and therefore contains a greater proportion of precious metal.
The choice mainly depends on budget, preferred finish and intended use. Both retain exactly the same devotional purpose: guiding the decades of the Rosary and meditation on its mysteries.
A gold Rosary for Catholic prayer
Despite the value of its material, a gold Rosary remains first and foremost a Catholic prayer object. Its beads guide the five decades and the meditation of the mysteries in the lives of Jesus and the Virgin Mary.
Our guide on how to pray the Rosary explains the sequence of prayers in greater detail.
Beads, crucifix and centre medal
Gold Rosaries can differ in bead size and shape, crucifix design and centre medal. Some designs are deliberately understated, while others include more visible religious details or combine gold with additional materials.
For regular prayer, overall weight, bead size and how easily each bead can be distinguished by touch may also be useful considerations.
How to care for a gold Rosary
When not in use, a gold Rosary can be stored in a case or pouch to reduce contact and friction with other jewellery. A soft cloth can be used to remove marks left by regular handling.
Abrasive products should be avoided, particularly when the Rosary also contains stones, mother-of-pearl, enamel or other materials requiring separate care.
