This white candle is made from natural vegetable wax, with no added scent. It burns for 9 days without interruption, exactly the length of a novena.

Vegetable wax is markedly different from scented paraffin: a clean burn, no black smoke, no smell at all. In an enclosed room, a sickroom or a chapel, the difference tells at once.

Nine days of burning

Nine days, which is where the name comes from. The actual time varies with room temperature and draughts: expect between eight and ten days. Stand the candle on a stable, non-flammable surface, away from curtains and out of reach of children.
