The Holy Bible - Large print

The Bible you give

White is the colour of the great Christian celebrations: the christening gown, the communion alb, the wedding dress. A white Bible is given on those days, and often kept for a lifetime as a record of the date.

That is what sets it apart from the black binding, meant for daily use. The same text, the same edition — but one is given and the other is worn out.

A Bible you can read for hours

Large print is not only for failing eyesight. It changes how you read: you last longer, you find a verse again without hunting, you are not tired after twenty minutes.

It also makes this a well-judged gift for a parent or grandparent, for whom comfort matters more than size.

The Louis Segond 1910 translation

The Segond 1910 is the revision of the translation Louis Segond made in the late nineteenth century from the Hebrew and Greek. It is noted for its fidelity to the originals and for the quality of its French.

For over a century it has been printed in millions of copies across the French-speaking world, and it remains the standard version for French-speaking Protestants and evangelicals.

Please note: the text of this Bible is in French.

What this edition contains

The Old and New Testaments in full, with an introduction to each book, colour maps placing the events, and a thematic index. The introductions set each text in its historical context — valuable for anyone receiving their first Bible.

Binding and finish

The soft white leatherette cover bends without marking. The zip runs right round the volume: on a Bible meant as a gift, that is what keeps it from yellowing and gathering dust between readings, and lets it stay handsome for years.

The gilt edges protect the thin paper, and the thumb tabs let you open straight to the book you want, without leafing through.

For which occasion

A First Communion, a profession of faith, a confirmation, a wedding, an adult baptism. These are the moments when a Bible is given, and when white is the natural choice.

To complete the gift, see our communion and baptism ranges. If you want a Bible to carry rather than to give, there is the travel edition at 9 × 13 cm. All our editions sit in the Bible category.
