What is a scapular necklace?

The scapular takes its name from the Latin scapula, the shoulder: it was originally a monastic garment falling over the shoulders, reduced over the centuries to two small pieces of cloth worn on the chest and back. The scapular necklace is its modern form, more discreet and hard-wearing, worn like a cord each day.

To wear a scapular is to bring one's faith into daily life — a visible sign of an inward commitment.

Devotion to the Precious Blood

This scapular is dedicated to the Precious Blood of Jesus — the blood shed by Christ in his Passion, honoured as the price of Redemption. It is an old devotion, centred on the sacrifice of the cross and the mercy that flows from it.

It stands close to devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Divine Mercy, with which it shares the same gaze on the Passion.
