Who is Saint John the Baptist?

His Story

St John the Baptist is an important figure in both the Judaic and Christian traditions. In the Bible, he is described as a preacher and prophet, who announced the coming of Jesus of Nazareth. He is considered the last of the Old Testament prophets and is often referred to as the "Forerunner of Christ". St John the Baptist was born in the town of Bethlehem and was called to be a prophet by God at birth. He began to preach in the desert, calling people to repent of their sins and prepare for the imminent arrival of Jesus. He baptized Jesus in the Jordan River, which is considered the beginning of Jesus' public mission.

Many religious rituals are associated with St John the Baptist, including processions, masses and bonfires to celebrate the life and work of this great saint. He is often invoked to ask for his protection and help, especially when one feels lost or discouraged.
